The road to NET
Who we are, what we value, and the community we’re proud to build.

Our Founders
NET was founded by Head Coach & Director, Kristi Day, and Director, Sarah Bear. We're two mums and lifelong athletes who share a vision to create something special for young netballers, where they can be themselves, grow their confidence and develop their skills.
Kristi’s passion for netball runs deep, driving a career built on excellence and commitment. Her determination earned her the honour of representing Western Australia in indoor netball, showcasing her skill at a high-performance level. With extensive coaching experience at club level, Kristi has led her current team to exceptional results: Grand Final champions in 2025 and runners-up in 2024 at WDNA. Driven by her own journey as a young player who often felt overlooked by traditional elite pathways, she set out to create an environment where aspiring netballers could grow, gain confidence, and pursue their potential, without fear of not being "good enough".
Sarah has an extensive background in national-level gymnastics in New Zealand, both as an athlete and as a coach, giving her a strong foundation in movement, discipline, and athletic development. She has also played and coached netball in New Zealand, the UK, and Australia, bringing a global perspective to the game and an ability to connect with players of all levels. In 2023, she placed 2nd in the Australian Power Lifting State Championships for her weight class. This background has shaped her approach to movement, discipline, body awareness, and athlete development, and she brings these skills into NET’s training philosophies.
Together, they bring more than 50 years of combined coaching experience and a shared commitment to developing not just skilled players, but confident, resilient young people who love the game and feel a strong sense of belonging.
Why we started NET
NET was created from a shared belief that there was a gap between club-level training and elite pathways. Kristi and Sarah wanted to build an environment where ALL players could receive high-quality coaching, position-specific skill development, and holistic support (mindset, recovery, strength and conditioning) within a positive, empowering environment.

Our story through art
To tell our story visually, NET collaborated with a talented Aboriginal artist, Missy Farmer, to design a unique artwork, which is proudly featured on our training gear.
Each element holds special meaning:
-
The two circles on each end represent the two passionate mothers who founded the academy.
-
The central circle symbolises NET's core focus: our athletes.
-
The connecting lines show strength and endurance, representing the foundation that supports growth, confidence, and belonging.
-
The rainbow shapes surrounding the circles reflect our community, family, and friends, who encompass and support every player’s journey.
This artwork tells the story of connection, empowerment, and shared purpose which is at the heart of everything NET stands for.
